COMMITTEE BACKS APA RULE LAWSUIT - The Post-Star ( Glens Falls, NY) Web site

Reporter Blake Jones reports that the Intercounty Legislative Committee of the Adirondacks on Thursday endorsed efforts to sue the APA for increasing shoreline development rules within the Adirondack Park. Fred Monroe of the APLGRB said that the changes will make it more difficult and  costly for owners of older properties to make improvements.

 Associated Press reporter Jessica Pasko reports that Judge Meyer agreed with the Lewis family that farmworker housing is an exempt agricultural use under the law that created the APA agency, so the agency has no jurisdiction over the Lewis buildings.

 In a letter to the Editor, Ralph Berry of Queensbury criticizes the APA, stating that the agency is "extending itself into areas it has no authority. What would the impact of major surgery on the APA be both in terms of cutting the state budget and trimming the agency back to the basic actual needs of protection of the park."
